Fees for business
Cost recovery and the PPS Register
The PPS Register operates on a cost recovery basis, in accordance with Australian Government policy, and incorporates the provision of online, phone and hardcopy (mail) services. The new single, national fee structure replaces the previous fragmented, complex and inconsistent law and registration arrangements, providing greater legal and financial certainty to financiers. Having a national online PPS Register also means that Australian businesses and business advisors now have a streamlined and cost effective service for searching and registering personal property securities.
The PPS Register fees have been formulated based on the estimated costs of operating the PPS Register. They have also been set at a level so as to avoid disadvantaging remote communities.
The arrangements include a credit account system by which a person may pay for transactions conducted in the course of a month in arrears on the receipt of a monthly statement. The PPS Registrar may also approve a credit limit as part of the arrangement.
PPS Register Fees schedule
Fees for PPSR Users details the fees applicable for different services. You should note the following:
- The current PPS Register Fee Schedule applies from 30 January 2012.
- GST does not apply to PPS Register fees.
The Personal Property Securities (Fees) Determination 2011 and the Explanatory Statement are available on the ComLaw website.
Casual users
If you are a casual user you will be asked during each search or registration process to pay for PPS Register services by credit card.
PPS Register Account Customers
If you’re going to use the PPS Register frequently, setting up an account rather than paying for each transaction by credit card may be more convenient. Visit the Account Customer Conditions of Use page to find out more information.
For Account Customers with a credit account only: What are the options if my PPS Register credit limit is reached?
You should pay your invoice immediately to restore access to your credit. Otherwise, you will have 30 days to pay your bill each month. You will receive an alert when you have 30% and 10% of your credit remaining.
If you pay your account electronically using your credit card, access to your credit limit will be restored instantly. On the other hand you can pay your account by electronic funds transfer. However if you pay this way it will take 2-3 days for the payment to be applied to your account.
If you repeatedly reach your credit limit, you can apply to increase your credit limit by lodging a new Credit Application Form with ITSA.
