Understanding ordinal search results

Your search of the order of two registration events will return one of the following results.

Registration event one is before registration event two.

Search result page: Registration event one is before registration event two.

Search certificate: Registration event 1 occurred before registration event 2

The results confirm that the second registration event occurred before the first event.

Example:

Registration 1 Start time 30/01/2012 00:00:05

Registration 2 Start time 30/02/2012 00:00:01

In this case the first registration was created before the second registration.

Registration event one is after registration event two.

Search Result page: Registration event one is after registration event two.

Search Certificate: Registration event 1 occurred after registration event 2

The results confirm that the second registration event occurred after the first event.

Example:

Registration 1 Start time 30/02/2012 00:00:01

Registration 2 Start time 30/01/2012 00:00:05

In this case the first registration was created after the second registration.

Depending on your search criteria one of the two results above results will confirm:

  • if one registration became current before the other
  • if one registration became effective before the other registration became ineffective (expired)
  • if a change to a particular registration (including its initial registration) occurred before or after the expiry of another registration
  • if one registration change occurred before another registration change

A search certificate is your legal record

It is recommended you that you email or view and save your search certificate. Your search certificate is an official and legal copy of your search and there is no additional fee for issuing a search certificate.
