As part of the Australian Government response to the Takata Airbag Recall, the PPSR has been updated to provide consumers and industry with information about whether a car has affected Takata Airbags and is under Recall.

The PPSR will show you if the vehicle you have searched is identified as part of the compulsory Takata recall, on screen and on your search certificate.

How do I know if the vehicle is identified as part of the recall?

Your PPSR search will indicate if the vehicle is identified as part of the recall. You can also check at www.ismyairbagsafe.com.au with your Vehicle’s Registration plate number.

How does the PPSR get the recall information?

ACCC collates all Takata recall data & provides a list of affected VINs to PPSR each month.

Once a vehicle has been fixed the VIN is removed from future files

Important: As we receive the list each month vehicles fixed in that time won’t show as updated.

My search hasn’t shown me if the vehicle is affected?

You should check the recall status at www.ismyairbagsafe.com.au.

My car has already been fixed but is showing as affected on my PPSR search.

Is it just the Takata recall or are other recalls included?

The PPSR will only display compulsory Takata recall information – This is the only current compulsory vehicle recall.
